Cambridgeshire Meeting

The Cambridgeshire Meeting is a three-day festival held at Newmarket which provides racegoers with some top quality Group races as well as some top notch handicaps.

Even though the three Group One events are a huge attraction to the Cambridgeshire Meeting with the Cheveley Park Stakes and Sun Chariot Stakes being notable races during the festival, the biggest betting race of the whole week is the Cambridgeshire Handicap.

Run over one mile, one furlong the Cambridgeshire Handicap attracts a bumper field of usually in excess of 25 runners.  Historically a wide open betting heat the Cambridgeshire is one of the toughest handicaps all season and along with the Cesarewitch makes up the Autumn Double.

Over the years the Cambridgeshire Handicap has served up some excellent renewals and with so many runners punters can always eek out that little bit of value.  Since 1995 only three favourites have managed to win the race and there have been some notable big priced winners and no more than Spanish Don, who won the Cambridgeshire for trainer David Elsworth and jockey Liam Keniry at odds of 100/1.

The three-day meeting has seen a plethora of stars go to post in recent years and having obtained the Fillies' Mile and Royal Lodge Stakes from Ascot, a race which the mighty Frankel scorched to success in in 2010, you are bound to see even more top class runners go to post throughout the three days.
