Listowel

Listowel racecourse has been providing both national hunt and flat racing in the County Kerry area since 1858.  A left-handed oval course of just about one mile offers the speedsters a good opportunity as its flat track allows speed to be the order of the day.

The thing Listowel racecourse is most well known for is its festival in the Autumn, which has blossomed over the last decade.  Originally a two-day festival it has grown into a seven-day extravaganza attracting huge crowds.

The highlight of the week long festival is the Grade A Kerry National which can be used as a potential stepping stone for the Aintree Grand National.  Other notable races during the festival are the Latrigue 4-Y-O Handicap Hurdle and the Guinness Handicap Hurdle.
