Hamilton Park Racecourse

Situated south of Glasgow in the town of Hamilton the racecourse is a flat racing venue and it has played host to horse racing since 1782. It is a right-handed undulating track that has recently seen a major refurbishment.

As with other racecourses the venue is keen to diversify from just horse racing and has become known as a concert venue and has featured such acts as JLS and X Factor judge Dannii Minogue.

The course holds 18 meetings throughout the summer with highlights being the Listed Glasgow Stakes which is held in July and used to be held at York Racecourse up to 2004.

On July 18th 1947 the venue became the first racecourse in the United Kingdom to host an evening racing fixture and on May 9th 1971 it became the first track to stage a morning meeting.

In big fields you need keep away from low in the draw and ignore the bottom six stalls when there are 14 or more runners in race of up to 1 mile 65 yards.

The top jockey at this course is Paul Hanagan and the north Yorkshire-based trainers Mark Johnston and Richard Fahey both do well here.
