Goodwood Racecourse located near Chichester is of the most popular racecourses in England. It is a right handed flat racing track that is six furlongs in which a a triangular loop is connected by two bends.
The most popular meeting here is the Glorious Goodwood Festival which is one of the highlights of flat racing season and is watched by over 100,000 spectators and it features five days of racing which includes the Group One Sussex Stakes, Stewards' Cup and the Blue Square Nassau Stakes.
In races over 7 furlongs and 1 mile high numbers are favoured in the stall advantage and a high number is almost a necessity in the Stewards' Cup. However, low numbers are favoured for sprints here.
It was at this course that on Lizzy Hare back in June 1987 that jockey Frankie Dettori rode his first ever British winner.
