Sprinter Sacre Shines In Game Spirit Chase Entries

Sprinter Sacre has been phenomenonal since making the transition to he chasing sphere this season and the ante-post Arkle Challenge Trophy favourite could head to Newbury on Saturday for the Game Spirit Chase.

An impressive winner on his chasing debut at Doncaster, the Nicky Henderson-trained six-year-old then propelled himself to the head of the Arkle betting with a demolition of the classy Peddlers Cross at Kempton Park over the Christmas period.

Instantly, the Seven Barrows inmate was touted as a Cheltenham Festival good thing, but he could put his banker credentials on the line in the Grade Two 2m 1f contest on Betfair Super Saturday, where he could take on not only some proven chasers, but also another Arkle contender in Cue Card.

Henderson has already eluded to punters that he will relish taking on the older horses and will be hoping that Cue Card can provide him with a lead in the early exchanges of the contest.

However, it's not just be the exciting novice chasers that catch the eye in the eight entries received, but there is a potential springer in the Queen Mother Champion Chase betting from the Paul Nicholls yard.

Hold Fast is currently around the 25/1 mark for the Champion Chase and the Ditcheat team will be hoping that the emphatic Sandown Park winner can build on that terrific seven length success in January and use the Game Spirit clash with Sprinter Sacre as a springboard to the Cheltenham Festival and a clash with Sizing Europe in the Wednesday showpiece.

Henderson will be represented by 2011 winner French Opera, who will be making his first appearance of the season and will certainly be another who tests out Sprinter Sacre's resolve, and it is sure to be a fascinating renewal of the contest that has seen such classy winners as Azertyuiop and Master Minded in the last decade.
