David Pipe's stable star Dynaste has been ruled out of the Cheltenham Festival and will not aim to land back-to-back wins in the Ryanair Chase, as he was found to have strained his hind leg and he will be forced to be on the sidelines until the Autumn.
He had been at the head of the ante-post betting for the Ryanair Chase, as he looks to emulate Albertas Run by winning the race two years on the spin, but following on from his third place finish in the BetBright Cup Chase on Festival Trials Day at Cheltenham he will not be seen again this season.
Having failed to land a blow in the closing stages of that BetBright Cup, he was expected to drop back to his favoured 2m 5f and was a 5/1 best price for the Ryanair Chase, a contest he won with aplomb last March, but that is not going to happen now he has suffered a setback.
It means the betting has been handed a reshuffle and progressive Irish chaser Don Cossack now heads the ante-post betting for the contest on March 12, whilst former winner Cue Card has been cut from 8/1 to 13/2 in some places, as he too drops back in trip for the event.
It will come as a huge blow for the Pipe team as Dynaste was expected to fly the flag for the Pond House team, but it could now be lead by RSA Chase fancy Kings Palace, who will be aiming to take over from Dynaste as their premier challenger for what is a Cheltenham Festival only five weeks away.
