Coneygree Ready For Denman Chase Test At Newbury

Mark Bradstock's Coneygree could step out of the novice chase division and look to bag glory in the Betfair Denman Chase, as a list of nine entries were received for the Newbury showpiece, which often throws up a genuine Cheltenham Gold Cup contender for March.

A fine winner of the incident-packed Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton Park on Boxing Day, Coneygree has shaped with real promise over fences and he still holds an entry in the Gold Cup, as well as in the RSA Chase, so Bradstock will know more on what route to take following Saturday's event.

Jonjo O'Neill could saddle a dual-pronged attack as last season's JLT Novices' Chase winner Taquin Du Seuil will look to recapture his best form, whilst dual Cheltenham Festival winner Holywell will be another aiming to enhance his Gold Cup claims in this premier trial.

Houblon Des Obeaux ran a stormer when finishing second in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury off top weight and he followed that up with a fine performance in Listed company behind The Young Master and Venetia Williams' star could look to land the prestigious event.

Paul Nicholls's Unioniste tasted success last time out and will now step back in company as he aims to put up a marker for the Ditcheat yard, whilst last year's winner Harry Topper will aim to emulate his fine winning performance of 12 months ago for Kim Bailey.

Rajdhani Express, Double Ross and Itoldyou complete the nine-strong entry list for what should provide some vital clues and should answer some notable festival questions on what race connections will take come Cheltenham in March.
