Classy Entries Received For Championship Novice Hurdles at Festival

A classy list of entries have been received for the four championship novice hurdle races at the Cheltenham Festival with the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, Neptune Investment Managemengt Novices' Hurdle, Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle and Triumph Hurdle all attracting some star-studded names in what is set to be a thrilling four days for the young brigade.

Supreme Novices' Hurdle

Steps To Freedom currently heads the ante-post for the Festival curtain-raiser after an impressive victory at Cheltenham's Open meeting in November and Jessica Harrington's speedster is set to return to Prestbury Park to try and gain Grade One glory in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.

However, a plethora of classy rivals could line up with Donald McCain's Cinders And Ashes spearheading the possible UK onslaught backed up by the intriguing Nicky Henderson trio of Darlan, Simonsig and Captain Conan.

Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle

Fingal Bay has been all the rage for the Neptune and has an unblemished record over timber for Philip Hobbs after bagging some classy Graded wins this season including last time out in the Challow Novices' Hurdle.

However, there is almost certainly going to be a strong Irish contingent taking their place in the field with Noel Meade's Monksland and Willie Mullins' Boston Bob just two notable names in the 118 entries for the race.

Batonnier got the better of Broadbackbob at Festival Trials Day last weekend and that pair could lock horns again in what is set to be a fascinating renewal.

Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle

Boston Bob and Fingal Bay have both been handed entries in the Albert Bartlett with the former the more likely runner for Willie Mullins, but away from the top two in the ante-post betting there are a whole multitude of emerging stars.

Mount Benbulben looks a major player for Gordon Elliott, whilst Rocky Creek showed at the weekend that he could also have a hand in the Friday contest alongside Sea of Thunder, who also catches he eye in the entry list.

Triumph Hurdle

Pearl Swan propelled himself into the Triumph Hurdle markets when getting the better of Grumeti at Cheltenham last week, only to lose the race in the stewards' room.  However, the pair could lock horns in the mouthwatering juvenile contest that could also see current favourite Sadler's Risk head to Prestbury Park on March 16.

Dildar made a winning debut at Taunton on Tuesday and could give Paul Nicholls another lively runner with Ranjaan strengthening the possible Ditcheat team heading to the contest.

Ut De Sivola and Minsk could be the main protagonists for the Irish in what looks a wide open division and should provide punters with a magnificent spectacle on Gold Cup day.
